Stirling Residents Benefit as Miniman Team With DOT to Deliver Smart Data Mobile App

Stirling based Web Design and Web Development Agency Miniman Web Design has partnered with Branding Agency DOT to help deliver a smart data mobile app to the residents of Strathard, a rural community ward in Stirlingshire.

The Miniman / DOT smart data app, developed with Flutter to deliver a native mobile app experience to the residents of Strathard, Stirling

Miniman Web Design and DOT, established Stirlingshire digital solutions providers, collaborate with Strathard Community Trust to deliver a transformative mobile application. Launching on iOS and Android, with a web app coming later, the app integrates data from strategically placed smart sensors across Stirling, empowering users with real-time hyper-local weather, air quality, and soon, traffic, flood risk, and parking information. This first-of-its-kind platform empowers informed decision-making and optimizes daily life in the region. Expect further feature expansions in the near future.

This project presents a fantastic chance to showcase the vibrant innovation happening in rural Stirlingshire. By developing an API and software application, we can not only empower our own community but also share this valuable tool with other areas across Scotland. Imagine the collective impact we can make!

Mike Bishop, lead app developer, Miniman/DOT

Partnering with Miniman on this endeavour is DOT, a creative agency based out of London and Aberfoyle with a deep connection to Stirling and its surrounding landscapes. They’ve previously brought their branding expertise to iconic projects like the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, showcasing their talent for shaping unique identities that resonate.

DOT’s diverse portfolio spans branding and digital development for architects, cleantech companies, and even financial institutions, demonstrating their ability to tell compelling stories across a broad range. Importantly, they hold a strong commitment to supporting community-driven initiatives, making them a perfect fit for this collaborative project.

At the heart of this project is a close collaboration with the Strathard Community Trust and local residents. This open approach allows the team to directly hear their needs and build an app that truly serves them.

“We’ve zeroed in on a core issue that the app can address, and we’re committed to delivering the best possible user experience.

Right now, residents gather information from various sources, often including the Stirling Council website, which can be time-consuming and frustrating. Our goal is to simplify this process dramatically, making it one seamless and convenient experience within the app.”

The mobile app is planned to launch in Spring 2024, with initial testing beginning from January.
